At roughly 8 a.m. PDT on Sept. 16, 2015, a suspicious package was found at the entrance of the Los Angeles Convention Center’s West Hall, the scheduled location for the Marijuana Investor Summit. Once the Los Angeles Police Department determined the package was not a threat and released the scene, conference organizers regrouped and are continuing the event as planned.

During the bomb threat, the LAPD locked down the scene and the package was x-rayed. The results were inconclusive so the box was dragged outside and shot with a water cannon. After it was confirmed that there were no explosives, the package was opened and it was found to be a sand bag wrapped in a black tarp and covered with duct tape.

The scene was released at approximately 10:30 a.m. PDT and no determination was made as to the origin of the package. More information will be released as it becomes available.
