On July 27, 2016, the Florida Department of Health announced that Surterra Therapeutics, a state-licensed cultivator based in Tampa, had been authorized by the DOH to begin processing and dispensing low-THC medical marijuana.

According to Associated Press, Surterra should start in-home delivery within one week and plans to open its dispensary in Tampa next month.

Trulieve, a Tallahassee-based medical marijuana dispensary licensed by the state of Florida, received its dispensing authorization on July 20 and made its first in-home delivery on July 23.
