Granite State Relief: First Medical Cannabis Dispensary Opens in New Hampshire

By:

On April 29, 2016, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services announced that it had issued the first dispensary registration certificate to Sanctuary ATC, a state-licensed alternative treatment center, to operate its medical cannabis dispensary in Plymouth.

One day later, on April 30, Sanctuary ATC held its grand opening and officially became the state’s first alternative treatment center to dispense medical cannabis to qualified patients and caregivers.

“When the Therapeutic Cannabis Program was established by the Legislature, it envisioned that people in New Hampshire suffering from serious medical conditions would be able to access therapeutic cannabis for relief. I am very pleased to announce that with the opening of the Sanctuary dispensary in Plymouth, that day has arrived,” said Jeffrey A. Meyers, DHHS Commissioner. “My thanks to the Therapeutic Cannabis Program staff and Sanctuary ATC for their tireless efforts in realizing this significant achievement on behalf of patients and caregivers.”

“These patients that you see lining up really need this medicine because traditional therapeutics often failed for them,” said Dr. David Syrek, pathologist at Sanctuary ATC, in an interview with WMUR-TV.

Sanctuary ATC’s dispensary in Plymouth is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., as well as Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m.

Three more dispensaries are slated to open this summer, with Prime ATC opening one in Merrimack and Temescal Wellness opening one in Dover and one in Lebanon.
