Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served nearly 6,400 medical cannabis cardholders, who bought a total of 161,660 grams of dry cannabis.

The Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program also released general data on the program, as of Aug. 31, including that the state has licensed 44 medical cannabis dispensaries, banking roughly $19.6 million in 2016 total retail sales.
