On Jan. 4, 2017, the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program reported that it recorded approximately $5.3 million in retail medical marijuana sales for the month of December, a significant increase from the $4.4 million in sales for the month of November.

Dry flower accounted for $3 million out of December’s $5.3 million in medical marijuana sales, while concentrates/infused-products accounted for $2.2 million in sales.

The Illinois Department of Public Health also announced that it approved 1,570 applications in December, increasing the number of qualifying patients from 13,200 to 14,770.

Licensed medical marijuana dispensaries served almost 9,700 unique customers, who purchased 261,656 grams of dry flower. Illinois has generated just over $36.2 million in retail sales since dispensaries opened on Nov. 9, 2015.
