The ArcView Group, one of the best known investment groups focusing on marijuana investments in the United States, has named Leslie Bocskor, the CEO of Electrum Partners, as its “Outstanding Investor Member” of 2015. Steven Trenk, Founder of Lizada Capital, was ArcView’s inaugural Outstanding Investor Member.
“Leslie brings so much valuable insight and generosity to his relationships with entrepreneurs and investors,” said Troy Dayton, CEO of The ArcView Group. “He has been the mentor to more companies that won best pitch than anyone else. He was the obvious choice for this award.”
Dayton himself is no newcomer to the startup space. He is a veteran of the dot-com boom of the nineties and green tech in the early part of the last decade.
Founded in 2010, Arcview is responsible for connecting some of the first angel investments in the sector with companies. It has so far funded 91 companies, invested over $57 million in the industry and also raised almost $800,000 for additional legalization reform. The group has over 500 investor members.
ArcView’s activities, as a result, have a large and reinforced impact on the evolving industry, both from increasing acceptance and furthering the synergistic impact of the companies Arcview finds, funds and mentors. The company also holds highly popular regular pitch events for new companies and those who want to invest in them on a regular basis.
“ArcView is easily the single most influential institution for investing in and developing the business of the legal cannabis industry and I’m honored to receive such recognition. I continue to be excited about working with ArcView leadership and to mentor companies that form the underpinnings of evolution and expansion of cannabis business,” Bocskor said.
Bocskor himself has spent over 20 years in investment banking and corporate finance. He created Electrum Partners to focus on the cannabis space and some have referred to him as the “Warren Buffet” of the industry. Electrum is a boutique consulting firm specializing in the global, legalizing cannabis industry. The firm provides business services, strategic guidance and management consulting for both public and private companies.
During this time, Bocskor has also become one of the most visible members of the investment community to encourage investors to look at this new market, even before federal reform.
In doing so, he has also become one of the most important influences in the industry in terms of bringing best practices and values-based commerce to the marijuana industry, at present one of the fastest growing industry in the United States.
Bocskor has also focussed on mentoring young companies and investors as he brings them into the business.
“Never underestimate the value of the right mentor,” said Seibo Shen, CEO of VapeXhale. “I encourage entrepreneurs that have the good fortune to work with Leslie Bocskor to listen to his wise and pointed insights.”
