Denver-based O.penVAPE, one of the largest and best known consumer brands now developing in the American market, has announced a ground-breaking new alliance with Timeless Herbal Care, a Jamaican cannabis company.
O.penVAPE offers cutting edge cannabis extraction technology and currently operates in nine states through a network of licensed affiliates, with companies like SoundCO2 in the state of Washington, that distribute the company’s products which include portable cannabis-filled vaporizers and other products.
Timeless Herbal Care is at the forefront of the Jamaican legalization and commercialization movement. The company was present along with Jamaica’s Minister of Justice Senator, the Honorable Mark Golding, on April 20, 2015, when Golding planted the first symbolic legal cannabis plant at the University of the West Indies.
According to Courtney Betty, President and CEO of Timeless Herbal Care, “Timeless has been there from the very beginning and we will continue to play a leading role in establishing Jamaica as the medical marijuana hub of the world.”
Jamaica has not only encouraged business relationships to advance the industry, but has highlighted the importance of the marijuana tourist trade based on its success in Colorado, which began recreational sales to adults 21 and older at the beginning of 2014. Despite the fact that the official relationship between marijuana businesses and the established tourism industry in Colorado has been distant at best, visits to Colorado increased by 7.4% overall last year, according to O.penVAPE’s press release publicizing the agreement with Timeless Herbal Care.
The release also explained that 1.4 million Americans are expected to travel to the island in 2015, with more than 28,000 of them expected to be eligible for participation in the newly legal Jamaican medical cannabis program.
Jamaica will offer medical reciprocity, along with Nevada and Hawaii in the United States. In every jurisdiction where such agreements exist, tourism plays a major role in the regional economy.
O.penVAPE and Timeless Herbal Care are projecting a dramatic increase of as many as 10,000 additional tourist visits per year because of this new partnership.
These two companies are shaping their alliance to place a premium on encouraging marijuana tourism and job creation in Jamaica. Additionally, a portion of the sales of medical cannabis will be donated to non-profits dedicated to cannabis education and research on the island.
“We are thrilled to partner with Timeless Herbal Care to usher in the new era of medical cannabis regulation. We are fully committed to helping the Jamaican people monetize one of their most precious natural resources, ganja,” said Chris Driessen, O.penVAPE’s Chief Business Development Officer.
Marijuana business is starting to have a decidedly more international tone this fall. In addition to this new international business announcement in the Caribbean, medical hemp extracts went on sale late this summer in Europe.
