On Nov. 23, 2016, OrganiGram Holdings Inc. (TSXV:OGI), a licensed producer of medical marijuana in Canada, announced that the company had been chosen by Trailer Park Boys, a Nova Scotia-based Netflix original series, as its exclusive marijuana producer, business partner and brand developer.
Trailer Park Boys follows the story of three petty criminals living in a trailer park as they hatch hilariously flawed schemes to get rich quick and “retire.” Originally airing in 1999, the show gained popularity in Canada before amassing a following in the United States after being picked up by Netflix in 2014.
Under the agreement, OrganiGram will work with the show’s production company, Trailer Park Boys Productions Ltd., to create branded products and packaging targeted for the show’s target audience as well as product placement opportunities.
“This relationship solidifies one of our strategic building blocks as we plan for the legalization of recreational use in Canada. The team at Trailer Park Boys have an aligned vision to develop a National brand with our assistance and we’re incredibly excited at how the partnership will come to life,” said Ray Gracewood, Chief Commercial Officer at OrganiGram, in a statement.
The initial agreement is set to last for five years.
