The Hawaii Department of Health announced on Oct. 17, 2017, that it had approved the state’s second Hawaiian medical marijuana laboratory, Pharmlab Hawaii, to start testing medical marijuana from licensed dispensaries, registered caregivers and patients.

HONOLULU, Oct. 17, 2017 /Weed Wire/ — Pharmlab Hawaii LLC, a private independent laboratory on Maui, has been given the green light to begin testing medical cannabis from Hawaii’s licensed medical cannabis dispensaries and registered patients and caregivers.
Medical marijuana dispensaries are beginning to open in Hawaii, but they’re not allowed to sell their products.
A report from the Hawaii Dispensary Alliance says the state’s medical marijuana dispensaries could produce revenues between $12 million and $38 million during their first year of operation, according to an Associated Press article. By 2018, dispensaries could bring in $80.5 million as registered patients grow from 14,000 to as many as 40,000.
The State of Hawaii has rejected actor Woody Harrelson’s application to open a pot business, Reuters reported on April 29, 2016. The Oscar nominee’s Simple Organic Living LLC had applied for a license to start a medical marijuana dispensary in January 2016, but the company was not on a list of eight approved applications.
