On June 20, 2017, the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced that it had issued 12 grower/processor permits, with the clock ticking on permittees to have their facilities operational within six months before they can start cultivating medical marijuana.

A new marijuana decriminalization ordinance will go into effect on Sept. 7, 2016, in the township of State College, Penn., home of Penn State. The new ordinance will allow police to issue a summary offense to those possessing or using 30 grams or less of marijuana. Fines would be $250 for possession and $350 for using.
On Aug. 18, 2016, the state of Pennsylvania released draft rules regarding the regulation of its medical marijuana system. According to Philly.com, the 90-page set of rules will define how marijuana is cultivated, tracked and protected in the state of Pennsylvania.
