HARRISBURG, Pa., April 18, 2016 /Weed Wire/ — Yesterday, in front of a crowd of patients and advocates Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed SB 3, making Pennsylvania the 24th medical cannabis state in the country to adopt a comprehensive medical marijuana program.
Pennsylvania Senate Bill 3, a bill legalizing medical marijuana in the state, is close to failing in the legislature.
On March 16, 2016, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted to approve SB 3, a bill legalizing medical marijuana in the state.
In Pennsylvania, a medical marijuana proposal has been resurrected by the state legislature and is scheduled for a House vote later next month.

Medical marijuana has not had the easiest time in Pennsylvania. When the Senate overwhelmingly passed Senate Bill 3, a bill legalizing medical marijuana, by a vote of 40-7, many thought that the bill would be a slam dunk in the House, but it has stalled in committee.
Back in May the Pennsylvania Senate passed SB 3, a bill that would legalize medical marijuana in the state. However, in the intervening weeks, the bill stalled in the House Health Committee due to the refusal of Rep. Matt Baker, the committee chair, to consider it.
Republican Rep. Matt Baker is ardently anti-marijuana and in order for SB 3 to make it to the House floor, it will have to go through the Health Committee, which Baker chairs.
With a vote of 40-7, the Pennsylvania Senate voted to approve SB 3, a bill which would legalize medical marijuana in the state. The bill will now go to the House of Representatives where it is expected to meet much more resistance than it did in the Senate.
