With several Maryland medical marijuana dispensary licensees preparing to open their doors within the next week and certified patients ready to buy their products, the state has awarded three more dispensary licenses, giving Maryland a total of nine licensed dispensaries.
On Nov. 28, 2017, the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission announced that a licensing vote had taken place at its meeting on Nov. 20, with the commission awarding licenses to Growing Ventures LLC; GTI Maryland LLC, dba Rise Silver Spring; and Maryland Wellness Access, dba Remedy Columbia.
“As the Commission works to grant approval to qualified companies, we are looking forward to seeing them start selling their medicinal products to the patients in Maryland who have been waiting for this,” said Brian P. Lopez, chairman of the commission, in a press release.
RISE should start selling medical cannabis in the next week and four other dispensaries should have medical cannabis available for patients by Dec. 1, as reported by the Washington Post.
You can check the status of specific Maryland medical marijuana dispensary licenses, and other license categories, on the MMCC industry webpage.
According to the Washington Post, almost 550 doctors and healthcare providers have registered with the state to certify patients, with approximately 15,000 prospective patients signed up for the program and 8,500 already certified to participate.
