In just 30 days, David Evans, Executive Director of the Drug Free Schools Coalition, will be participating in The Great Marijuana Debate, opposite Ethan Nadelmann, Executive Director of the Drug Policy Alliance, at the California Cannabis Business Expo in San Francisco this March.

In addition to being the Executive Director of the Drug Free Schools Coalition, Evans is a prominent and well-spoken opponent of marijuana legalization and commercialization. He believes the dangers to our society far outweigh the imagined benefits of any form of legalization.

Considering Evans is staunchly opposed to legalization, why did he agree to participate in The Great Marijuana Debate? “To oppose marijuana legalization and commercialization in all forums,” Evans said in a statement to MJINews.

And while some see legal marijuana in America’s future, Evans refutes the notion that legalization is inevitable. He believes that when the public is properly informed they will oppose the legalization and commercialization of marijuana and the desire to keep marijuana use illegal will maintain a healthy support base in this country.

To support his claims, Evans has written several books dealing with substance abuse and the law, including books on designing effective drug testing programs. His books include “Drug Testing Law, Technology and Practice” and “Designing an Effective Drug-free Workplace Compliance Program.” He also wrote “Kids, Drugs & the Law.”

With ProCon.org sponsoring The Great Marijuana Debate, Evans and Nadelmann are sure to provide compelling discourse on the pros and cons of marijuana legalization.

The California Cannabis Business Expo follows MJIC Media’s inaugural event, the Marijuana Investor Summit in Denver in April 2014, which drew more than 1,000 people and 100 exhibitors. The California Cannabis Business Expo in San Francisco is a unique opportunity to learn about the state of cannabis in California directly from those shaping the legal landscape.

Tickets to the California Cannabis Business Expo in San Francisco can be purchased online.
