Cannabis Canada Association Announces Leadership Transition

Transition Sundial Growers Cannabis Canada Association

OTTAWA, Ont., Jan. 4, 2018 /Weed Wire/ — The Board of Directors of Cannabis Canada Association (“Cannabis Canada”) today announced the departure of Colette Rivet from her position of Executive Director and the appointment of Allan Rewak as Acting Executive Director, while a comprehensive search for a permanent replacement is conducted.

“We’re grateful to Colette for her service to our sector and to our Association during a difficult period of exponential growth and significant regulatory change,” said Board Chair Neil Closner. “We collectively wish her the very best in her future endeavours.”

To ensure that the CCA continues to seamlessly operate as an effective, member-driven organization during the transition period, the Board has retained Allan Rewak, formerly of licensed producer Newstrike Resources and a past member of the Association Board to serve as Acting Executive Director while a replacement is sought.

“Allan knows our industry well, understands our key short- and long-term objectives, and will hit the ground running as Acting Executive Director,” said Cam Battley, Cannabis Canada Board member. “With more than 15 years of progressive experience in communications, public affairs and executive management, coupled with experience in the regulated cannabis industry, he will be a valuable resource to us all, to ensure Cannabis Canada continues to be an effective sector leader and partner to government in the rapidly-growing medical and pending adult consumer markets.”

The Board of Directors has initiated the recruitment process for a permanent Executive Director with the assistance of a leading search firm and intends to report back to the Association membership in early 2018.
