On Nov. 30, 2015, the National Cannabis Industry Association, a national trade group for cannabis-related businesses, announced its 2016 Lobby Days, taking place May 12-13, 2016, in Washington, D.C.

The 2016 event will be the NCIA’s sixth annual Lobby Days and it is an event that gives members of NCIA an opportunity to lobby members of congress to support federal policy reform for legal cannabis-related businesses.

The NCIA has nearly 1,000 member-businesses in the legal cannabis industry nationwide. The most pressing federal issues for these businesses include the need for access to banking services and exemption from Section 280E of the Internal Revenue Code, with an ultimate goal of ending federal prohibition.

NCIA’s 2016 Lobby Days is a members-only event. Interested businesses can become members by enrolling in one of the NCIA’s three membership levels. Approximately 80 members attended NCIA’s Lobby Days in 2015.
