Green Dragon Buys Backcountry Cannabis Location in Breckenridge

On Dec. 31, 2015, Green Dragon Cannabis Co. opened a dispensary in Breckenridge, in what was formerly the Backcountry Cannabis Club. According to Summit Daily, co-founders Brian Rogers and Caitlin McGuire sold the Backcountry Cannabis Club location in Breckenridge to focus on wholesale.

“We’re fully open and ready to roll,” said Max Gorodesky, manager at Green Dragon Cannabis Co.

Green Dragon Cannabis Co. is a Denver-based chain of cannabis dispensaries. By adding the location in Breckenridge, Green Dragon now owns seven cannabis dispensaries in Colorado, spanning Denver to Glenwood Springs.

As Green Dragon purchased the retail space and not the Backcountry name, it is in the process of rebranding, with the sign for Backcountry Cannabis coming down soon. “We’re gonna have an entirely new look within the next few weeks,” Gorodesky said.

Backcountry Cannabis gained fame after being the focus of “High Profits,” a CNN documentary series. Backcountry still operates a dispensary in Crested Butte.
