FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 28, 2016 /Weed Wire/ — The Hawaii State Department of Health has signed a contract with BioTrackTHC™, formally authorizing the company to begin work on the development and deployment of the BioTrackTHC™ integrated tracking and traceability software system for the state’s Medical Marijuana Dispensary Licensing Program.
The Medical Marijuana Dispensary Licensing Program was created by Act 241 (Session Laws of Hawaii 2015) and, per the Department of Health’s website, was “designed to ensure medical marijuana is accessible for Hawaii’s patients while making patient safety and public safety its ultimate priorities.”
Including Puerto Rico Department of Health’s recent announcement of its intent to award a contract to BioTrackTHC™, the company’s total government contract count for cannabis software has reached seven.
“BioTrackTHC is an experienced company that has successfully developed and implemented a seed-to-sale tracking system in other states,” said Keith Ridley, chief of the Office of Health Care Assurance. “We expect their experience and expertise will help to implement an effective system for Hawaii and we are glad to have them as partners in our effort to ensure patient safety, product safety, and public safety.”
“We are excited to begin collaborating with the Hawaii Department of Health to implement our technology and meet the Medical Marijuana Dispensary Licensing Program’s needs in Hawaii,” said Patrick Vo, CEO, BioTrackTHCTM. “Our shared goal is to develop a program that provides safe access for patients and reflects well on the whole state; and we will work as efficiently as possible, without sacrificing quality of implementation, to play our part and make that happen.”
Earlier this month, BioTrackTHCTM received the 2016 Marijuana Industry Award in the category of Software/Tech Company of the Year. The Marijuana Industry Awards were bestowed in 13 categories by the Academy of Cannabis Science and Industry.
