Hundreds Attend Marijuana Rally in New Jersey

New Jersey

On Oct. 17, 2015, hundreds of marijuana supporters gathered to participate in the East Coast Cannabis Coalition’s N.J. Cannabis Freedom Rally in Trenton, New Jersey. Supporters marched down State Street, followed by a rally outside of the statehouse.

The intent of the rally was to launch a statewide campaign to legalize recreational marijuana on a municipal level. Rally participants also called on Gov. Chris Christie to sign Assembly Bill 4587, a bill aimed at mandating public schools to develop rules allowing students with developmental disabilities to use edible marijuana on campus.

Multiple organizations were involved in the rally, including the New Jersey Libertarian Party and several chapters or NORML.

“We’re very happy that so many people came out,” stated Vanessa Maria, ECCC founder and director. “Each time we do a rally, more and more people come out, which shows how far we’ve come.”
