Impact Network and IMPACT Network Hosts First Colorado Conference on Cancer and Cannabis

DENVER, July 8, 2016 /Weed Wire/ – IMPACT Network, a nonprofit dedicated to Improving Marijuana Policy and Accelerating Cannabis Therapeutics, is hosting IMPACT: Cancer & Cannabis. This conference focused on educating the medical cannabis patient community is taking place on Saturday July 9th from 12-5 pm at Tears-McFarlane House at 1290 N Williams St, Denver, CO 80218.

This event, part of a monthly series on treating medical conditions with cannabis, was inspired by the fact that only 6% of cancer patients in Colorado have a medical marijuana card.

“We want to empower cancer patients to make an educated decision on whether cannabis treatment is right for them,” IMPACT Network Founder Dr. Michele Ross said. “Cannabis, in its many forms, can be used to manage the side effects of chemotherapy or as an alternative to chemotherapy.”

Our Keynote Speaker is Robin Hackett, co-founder of the nonprofit Hackett Foundation, speaking on years of experience treating cancer patients with cannabis. Our second speaker is neuroscientist Dr. Michele Ross, presenting the science behind how cannabinoid medicine can treat and even prevent cancer. Additional speakers include Ally Brenner, Cancer Consultant from Trill Alternatives, and our Cancer Patient Panel including Edward Hunt and Pamela Jacobsen.

Topics covered include CBD and THC dosing, how to use cannabis for cancer pain, reducing nausea and vomiting with cannabis, Marinol versus whole-plant medicine, what is cannabis oil, different routes of administration, how to get healthy, not high, and the power of raw cannabinoids.

The event is sponsored by Trill, Sante Denver, Stratos, Dunbar Kitchen & Tap House, and the Industrial Hemp Research Foundation. IMPACT Network is also supported by a grant from the Colorado Cancer Coalition. Please email melanie@theimpactnetwork.org to secure press passes for the IMPACT: Cancer & Cannabis event.
