Oregon’s legal marijuana industry has a lot to celebrate from 2015: recreational marijuana consumption and possession became legal on July 1, 2015, with Portland International Airport allowing cannabis on in-state flights; early recreational sales started on Oct. 1; and the OLCC approved temporary rules for recreational marijuana, with a provision allowing marijuana delivery.

With several other marijuana developments reason enough to celebrate, some of Portland’s dispensaries are open this New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to help consumers ring in 2016 with the freedoms earned in 2015.

Kaya Shack (OTCQB: KAYS) in Southeast Portland is offering 15% off sales on New Year’s Eve, but will be closed on New Year’s Day. While also closed Jan. 1, Rose City Wellness in historic Oldtown is open on New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., with 20% off all medical and recreational purchases.

Some dispensaries are not only opting to be open on New Year’s Eve, but also New Year’s Day, which will be vital for those revelers who ring in the New Year with a champagne hangover.

Rip City Remedies in the Division district has regular hours on New Year’s Eve, open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., but will also be open on Jan. 1 from 12 p.m.-10 p.m. Foster Buds, in the Foster Area business district, is open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 10 a.m.-midnight on Jan. 1.

Farma PDX in Portland’s Central Eastside has extended hours of 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, and will be open from 12 p.m.-10 p.m. on Jan. 1.

Meanwhile, Zion Cannabis in downtown Portland will have its regular hours of 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

According to Joe Dunne, owner of Zion Cannabis, Zion is leveraging Oregon’s final days of tax-free marijuana sales. “We will have a huge sale from January 1 through January 4 offering $40 quarters of popular strains. Those are the last few days of tax free weed in Oregon so we want to help our customers stock up.”

Whether you need to stock up for a night of marijuana-fueled festivities this New Year’s Eve or you want to plan for a relaxing high on New Year’s Day, there are plenty of dispensaries in Portland ready to help.
