Marijuana companies could actually help the communities that host them. And we’re not just talking about tax revenue. Legal marijuana distributors and dispensaries can – and likely will – directly improve the quality of life in the communities that they serve.

Over the weekend, a Maine medical marijuana dispensary gained national attention after offering a unique reward for community service. Dubbed “Weed for Weeds,” Summit Medical Marijuana, a dispensary in Gardiner, offered free marijuana to legal adults willing to collect trash from around the area.
In Florida, on May 9, 2016, the Orlando City Council voted 4-3 to approve a measure that allows law enforcement officers to issue civil fines for simple marijuana possession of 20 grams or less.
