Two high-profile officials from Colorado, where marijuana is legal, have publicly encouraged Arizona not to go the legalization route. Mayor John Suthers of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sgt. Jim Gerhardt of the Thornton, Colo., police department spoke in Phoenix at a Sept. 20, 2016, news conference opposing Arizona’s Proposition 205.

The revelation of the alcohol industry’s concerns was a minor part of the WikiLeaks release of Democratic National Committee emails suggesting an orchestrated attempt to nominate Hillary Clinton instead of Bernie Sanders.

AAA’s safety foundation released a study that revealed the THC level in a driver’s blood is not an adequate measure of driving while impaired, the Associated Press reported on May 10, 2016. The study showed a driver’s impairment cannot be judged by a standardized level of THC, the psychoactive substance in marijuana.
