HUMBOLDT, Calif., Dec. 6, 2016 /Weed Wire/ — A collective of Humboldt County, California cannabis farms have announced an alliance to create America’s craft cannabis brand: Humboldt’s Finest.
The Humboldt Institute for Interdisciplinary Marijuana Research, based at Humboldt State University, has launched the HIIMR Medical Cannabis Business Registry to capture data on California’s marijuana industry.
On Sept. 15, 2016, True Humboldt announced that its medical cannabis has earned Humboldt County’s seal of approval, participating in the county’s seed-to-sale system that tracks county-grown medical cannabis in California.
Rural Trinity County is home to 13,500 people in Northern California and marijuana production is rampant there. Along with Humboldt and Mendocino counties, Trinity comprises California’s “Emerald Triangle,” a region known for its prolific marijuana farming.
On Aug. 9, 2016, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors unanimously decided to place a local commercial marijuana cultivation measure on the county’s ballot in November.
Many people who work in the emerald triangle’s underground economy think of it as just a job. However, for the majority of people outside the cannabis industry there is a lot of mystery.
One of the greater obstacles to legalization in California is early success. Humboldt County, in the heart of the Emerald Triangle, is often seen as the cradle of the legal cannabis industry.
California’s Humboldt County is known for its towering redwoods. But this region about 200 miles north of San Francisco has another claim to fame: Humboldt is to weed what Napa is to fine wine — it’s the heart of marijuana production in the U.S.
