It looks like the enhanced legalization of medical marijuana in Montana will boost the Treasure State’s coffers this year, with sales increasing the amount of money in Montana’s general fund.

Montana medical cannabis providers have until Oct. 15, 2017, to file and pay their taxes for sales made in July, August and September. This represents the first time the state’s Department of Revenue has collected taxes on medical cannabis sales.
As June comes to a close, employees of the Montana medical marijuana program are busy preparing for the changes that will go into effect by the end of the week.
A tax on medical marijuana is now on it’s way to the Montana’s Governor Bullock’s desk after passing out of the House Tuesday morning.
Funding proposals for the Montana’s medical marijuana program have moved away from a tax and toward a fee structure as groups continue to debate how money will move within the system. It’s part of Senate Bill 333, a large regulatory bill that’s moving through the Montana Legislature.
On March 2, 2017, the Arkansas Senate Committee on Public Health, Welfare and Labor voted to approve two bills that would limit the methods for consuming medical marijuana.
