WASHINGTON, April 14, 2016 /Weed Wire/ — The Senate Appropriations Committee passed a bipartisan amendment today, 20 to 10, allowing Veterans Administration (VA) doctors to recommend medical marijuana to their patients in states where medical marijuana is legal.
On Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, the Senate passed the FY2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill, which includes a critical provision for veterans interested in having legal access to medical marijuana treatment options.
The Senate Appropriations Committee approved an amendment with a vote of 16-14 aimed at protecting marijuana businesses and allowing access to banking services. Federal agencies would not be able to use federal funds to punish financial institutions for doing business with the marijuana industry.
