Trulieve, based in Tallahassee, Fla., opened the state’s first licensed medical marijuana clinic and made its first home delivery in late July 2016. About a week ago, the company opened a location in Clearwater, Fla. Now it’s eyeing South Florida for expansion, according to an Aug. 25, 2016, article in the Sun-Sentinel.
CEO Kim Rivers has requested zoning information from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Trulieve is looking at locations in the Miami area, the Orlando area, Tampa, St. Petersberg, and Pensacola.
“We want to be responsible corporate citizens and good community partners,” Rivers said. “We are interested in going into communities that see the benefits of the products we are offering to their citizens who are very sick.”
Trulieve’s request is the first of its kind sent to the planning and zoning office of Palm Beach County, Director Patrick Rutter said.
For now, authorized Florida residents outside of the Tallahassee and Clearwater areas can receive Trulieve products through the mail.
