On Aug. 15, 2016, Tweed Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canopy Growth Corporation (TSXV:CGC), is hosting the Front Yard Shindig, a free concert with multiple artists scheduled to perform on Tweed’s front yard in Smith Falls, Ontario.
Advertised as a family-friendly event paired with great music, the Front Yard Shindig spans genres, including funk, alternative and indie artists.
“There is still a lot of misunderstanding and stigma surrounding medical marijuana use, so we just want to be able to put ourselves out there and show people what type of company we are,” said Jordan Sinclair, a spokesman for Tweed, to the Ottawa Citizen. “And the other part is we just thought it would be a really good idea.”
Authorized medical marijuana users will be able to medicate at an on-site location, but recreational use will not be supported.
“We are a medical marijuana company so we felt that it was appropriate to have an area where, if you are an authorized medical user, we will provide a vapour lounge for people to be able to use,” Sinclair explained. “So we encourage people to only medicate there. And as for recreational use, we won’t be supporting that. And our neighbours, the Smiths Falls police, I’m sure wouldn’t, either.”
