Not only do the rules for marijuana consumption vary from state to state, but so do the prices. From coast to coast, marijuana prices in the United States range from just over $7 in the west to nearly $18 in the east.

According to Bloomberg, the 2018 Cannabis Price Index found that marijuana prices vary greatly across the United States, with the average price of marijuana in Seattle being $7.58 per gram, while the nation’s capital averages $18.08 per gram.

Seedo, the Tel Aviv-based company that executed the study, also uncovered that the price of marijuana in New York City, the city that consumes the most marijuana in the world, is $10.76 per gram; this is few dollars higher than Denver, another city known for its recreational marijuana, which averages $7.79 per gram.

Seedo is claiming that the data, which was gathered in December 2017 and January 2018, is important because it helps illustrate the amount of tax revenue that could be generated if marijuana was legalized on a federal level.

Canada is slated to legalize marijuana throughout the entire county this summer, and Toronto could generate C$152 million based on the average price being C$9.64, or $7.82. The same study showed that New York City could bring in $354 million in marijuana tax if the drug was legalized.
