On Feb. 5, 2016, the Hawaii State Department of Health announced the list of 66 applicants for medical marijuana dispensary licenses in the state. The DOH has made the names of individual applicants and applying entities available online, including the counties in which the applicants are seeking licenses.

Woody Harrelson, actor and legalization advocate, may be the most well known applicant for a medical marijuana dispensary license in the state. Harrelson has applied for a license in the county of Honolulu under the entity name Simple Organic Living.

All applications were filed online between Jan. 12-Jan. 29, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. HST, with an individual application fee of $5,000.

Of the 66 applicants, only eight will be awarded medical marijuana dispensary licenses, with each licensee permitted to open two retail locations and two production facilities.

Hawaii’s DOH expects to announce the eight licensees by April 15, 2016.
