An unnamed member of the Obama administration is set to meet with members of the marijuana advocacy group DCMJ to discuss marijuana reform. Earlier this month, members of the group staged a smoke-in protest in an effort to get President Barack Obama to respond to calls on the federal government to reschedule marijuana.

Although the president has been candid about his past use of marijuana, Obama has kept marijuana reform at arm’s length, preferring to allow states to settle the issue of marijuana reform instead of the federal government. This will mark the first time Obama’s administration has met with DCMJ.

Speaking with the The Huffington Post, DCMJ co-founder Adam Eidinger said that he would use this opportunity to urge the president to hold a marijuana reform summit before the end of his presidency.

“You don’t have to do anything; just absorb [the conversation],” Eidinger told HuffPo. “They have incredible dialogues with the gay and lesbian community and the civil rights community. But they never actually sit down with the marijuana people.”

The meeting is scheduled to take place on April 25, 2016.
