On Sept. 19, 2017, the Buckeye State took a critical step forward for its Medical Marijuana Control Program by releasing the application for Ohio medical marijuana dispensary licenses.

According to the program’s announcement, “Dispensary applications will be accepted online from November 3, 2017 to November 17, 2017.”

Completed applications, accompanied by a $5,000 application fee, must be submitted electronically by 2 p.m. ET on Nov. 17. The application fee has to be paid electronically, whether via credit card or automated clearing house.

There are 60 Ohio medical marijuana dispensary licenses up for grabs. The State Board of Pharmacy will hold two Q&A periods for prospective applicants, with the first running from Sept. 19 until Oct. 5 and the second running from Oct. 16 until Oct. 20.

The State Board of Pharmacy will also host a webinar on Oct. 3 to assist prospective applicants in the application process.

Ohio had 185 applicants for the 24 available cultivation licenses, with the Department of Commerce planning to name the licensees sometime in November.

State law requires that the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program be completely operational by Sept. 8, 2018.
