Illinois Medical Cannabis Sales Exceed $20M Since Starting in 2015

On Oct. 5, 2016, the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program announced that the Illinois Department of Public Health had approved applications for a total of 11,100 qualifying patients.

With September’s retail medical cannabis sales totaling $3.8 million, a slight increase from August, Illinois has now logged approximately $23.5 million in retail sales since the opening of dispensaries on Nov. 9, 2015.

Of the $3.8 million in retail sales for September, dry flower sales accounted for $2.2 million in sales and concentrates/infused-products accounted for approximately $1,620,418.56. The state’s 45 licensed dispensaries collectively served 7,475 patients, who bought a total of 186,269 grams of dry cannabis.
