BROOMFIELD, Colo., Jan. 16, 2018 /Weed Wire/ –In the race to develop a successful, viable hemp industry, Colorado is now home to the first U.S.-bred hemp seed to qualify as Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies (AOSCA) certified seed. “This is an exciting time for the industrial hemp industry. It seems breeding, technology, and information advances are happening at the speed of light; this is a giant step for American hemp farmers,” said Duane Sinning, CDA’s Division of Plant Industry Assistant Director.

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Dec. 4, 2017 /Weed Wire/ – The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) is announcing that four industrial hemp seed varieties have passed the statewide THC validation and observation trial and are now eligible to be grown by the Colorado Seed Growers Association for production of “CDA Approved Certified Seed.”
On July 7, 2016, Hawaii Gov. David Ige signed into law SB 2659, a bill that establishes an industrial hemp program through the state Department of Agriculture.
This time last year Tennessee passed legislation to allow for the growing of industrial hemp in the state, and farmers who signed up to participate are now able to move forward with cultivation of the crop.
If one were to ask what health and food safety have to do with cannabis, the answer is a lot! Hemp is a vital part of the cannabis industry.
