Montana will send notices to remind medical marijuana providers to pay taxes after less than half of the providers that paid taxes last fall paid again.
The state of Alaska reported a dip in tax collections from legal marijuana businesses in November.
Montana medical cannabis providers have until Oct. 15, 2017, to file and pay their taxes for sales made in July, August and September. This represents the first time the state’s Department of Revenue has collected taxes on medical cannabis sales.
On Feb. 21, 2017, the Oregon Department of Revenue announced that it had collected $5.3 million in marijuana tax revenue, brining the state’s total marijuana tax collection to $65.4 million.
